After the Stake President submits your mission papers to the Missionary Department in Salt Lake City, you wait. And, sometimes that waiting seems very long. What a glorious sight this large white envelope can be. Connor's "long-awaited" call came exactly two weeks before his graduation from high school and 11 days before he turned 18. He opened his call that night at 10:00 pm with lots of friends and family who made an effort to be here to support him. Our house was actually very full! Both sets of grandparents and one of his aunts were on the phone listening while he read his call (the LeCheminants calling from Idaho, the Hopkins calling from Tiberias, Israel, and Alisha from Seattle.)
Here are a few of the pictures that were taken. I love these!
One person commented on this last photo, when I shared them all in a Facebook post, that "this one says it all." And, it totally does! Another person commented that Connor "is glowing". And, he totally is! It really was a very special night for all of us. And although it took a day or two for the reality to settle in, knowing where and when he was going was finally a great place to be. We are sure that Connor's mission call was inspired and that he is serving right where the Lord wants him to serve.
Here are just a few more pictures.
