Getting Prepared...

There are a lot of things that need done before a missionary is ready to leave home and be away for a two-year mission. Here are a few photos of some of the things Connor did to be ready to go.

Buying shoes

I don't know how many miles a missionary puts on his shoes over the course of two years, but I know it's not just a few. This was his first purchase. We figured that no matter where he went, he would most likely need shoes. They sat in boxes on the floor of his bedroom closet for a few months, but they are getting some good use now.

At the doctor's office

This was probably one of his least favorite things of all...not that he doesn't like our Pediatrician (who is probably one of the nicest men on the planet). He just didn't like the exam. Connor himself would say he's a little bit of a hypochondriac and after Dr. Wynn got done giving him the mission physical he felt a little light-headed and had to lay down on the floor for a few minutes. He was back in the doctor's office shortly after receiving his call to get  a couple of shots. That went much better, funny enough.

 Suit shopping

This came after the mission call. Connor was blessed to have a really nice, good man (he'll remain unnamed) from our ward offer to buy his suits. He went so far as to set up a specific time for the salesman to meet Connor and me and help us choose the right ones. This picture is of Connor trying them on after the alterations were already done. We'll see if they will last the two years he is out. They may not look quite so good on the other side.

This is just a small sample of the many, many things that happened over the course of just a couple of months that we did to get him ready to go. Topping the list was lots and lots and lots of shopping--which would probably come in a very close second to his least favorite thing. And then we did more shopping....By the time July 29th arrived, he had everything packed into his two suitcases, ready to go. Here is a picture of that.

All packed and ready to go
